Whitewater Rafting

Event Date and Time:
July 17, 2010 - 1:00pm

Whitewater Rafting  on the Peshtigo or Menominee Rivers -  Silver Cliff, WI.  All Day Saturday and returning home Sunday morning.  Cost - $47 (boat) + gas, food, incidentals, etc. The Midwest offers some fun and challenging Class III and Class IV rivers.  There are three main Class III and Class IV rivers located in Wisconsin:  the Menominee, Peshtigo and the Wolf Rivers.  Each of these rivers has something to offer.   The Peshtigo is best known for its “Roaring Rapids” section.  This 4.5 mile section is over 75% whitewater, making it one of the longest continuous stretches of whitewater in the   Midwest!  This river is perfect for those who are looking for something a little more aggressive, but still perfect for beginners.   The Menominee River is a large volume river which is dam controlled so the flow is good all summer long.  Trips on the Menominee are always run in larger 6-12 place rafts.  Best known for the “Piers Gorge” section of the river, these Class IV rapids are so close together that it feels like one long continuous rapid.   Please contact Nick Stafford at ngstafford@yahoo.com if you are interested in going on this trip.  Your spot will be reserved once you pay the non-refundable fee of $47.  The tour starts on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.  I think we should drive up early Saturday morning (it’s a 7-8 hour drive from Peoria), go on the 1:00 tour (3-3.5 hours), camp out Sat. night and leave on Sunday morning.   H&F member going on this trip:  Nick Stafford
