An Evening with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra!
The Peoria Symphony Orchestra invites members of the Young Professionals Organization of Greater Peoria to experience the Symphony in a whole new way.
Join us at 6pm on April 23, 2010 at the Peoria Civic Center Theater for a unique behind the scenes look at the Peoria Symphony. We will start off the evening with a wine & cheese reception followed by a brief introduction of our final guest conductor of the season, Brett Mitchell. Then you will have a chance to watch the rehearsal and see how the symphony comes together. This is a casual event and we hope you will join us to see for yourself what the Peoria Symphony is all about.
This event is free for all YPO Members and is sponsored by Peoria Symphony Orchestra.

Brett Mitchell
As an Associate Conductor of the Houston Symphony, Brett Mitchell leads the orchestra in several dozen classical, education, family and gala concerts each season throughout the Houston area. Since 2006, he has also been the Assistant Conductor of the Orchestre National de France. He is no stranger to Illinois, however, having been the Director of Orchestras at Northern Illinois University from 2005 to 2007.
Awarded an inaugural American Friends of the Mendelssohn Foundations Scholarship, Mitchell is involved with intensive, one-on-one study with Kurt Masur, assisting the maestro with concerts in Vienna, Berlin, Leipzig and with the New York Philharmonic.
He was the youngest of ten semifinalists from a pool of over 500 applicants in the Third International Conductors’ Competition Sir Georg Solti in 2006, and was selected as a finalist for the Conductors Guild’s 2007 Thelma A. Robinson Award.
